Movable 3.3 Beta Release
By Diona Kidd on May 26, 2006 in Industry News, Technical
Six Apart has announced that Beta testing of Movable Type 3.3 will start next week. Users will be able to participate in the Beta testing and the target time span of the beta test will be limited three weeks in an effort to streamline the development process.
The complete list of new features has yet to be released, but an inital list has been announced on the Six Apart blog. These features include increased language support via installable language packs, per-blog templates for search results, resizeable posting text areas that remember settings, search across multiple blogs and increased SEO support.
If you’re familiar with the Widget Manager (or Sidebar Manager, which Widget Manager is based upon), you’ll be happy to know that it will now come installed by default so you can rearrange and redesign page sections, like the sidebar, without editing HTML.
Six Apart has also announced improvements to the StyleCatcher, which is intended to allow ease of installation of themes from the recent Style Contest for MT.
Side Note: David Raynes has also recently released ‘Multiblog‘ as a new widget. This new widget is intended to allow displaying of content from multiple blogs within the same Movable Type installation. This has been a challenge to Movable Type developers, and other blogging software users, for quite some time.
More information on the upcoming Movable Type version 3.3 is available on the Six Apart blog.
